Event at Guggenheim Museum, New-York
Swiss watchmaker Mido celebrates the culmination of their #BeInspiredByArchitecture campaign with an exclusive gala held at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The gathering honores the launch of a new Mido Inspired by Architecture Limited Edition timepiece, featuring design elements inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's famed architectural marvel.
Mido is reasserting its fondness for contemporary architecture with a new timepiece directly inspired by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Designed by the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, this revolutionary building was chosen by the public following the interactive #BeInspiredByArchitecture campaign, which drew over 100,000 participants from around the world.
True to the brand's identity, the new Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition presents a captivating contemporary design supported by clean lines. The profile of its round case in satin-finished and polished stainless steel and its crown take their shape from the elegant exterior curves of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Its superb eggshell-coloured and grained dial is inspired by the impressive glass dome that crowns the monument.
Produced in a limited edition of just 500 pieces, this unique timepiece is fitted with an exceptional COSC-certified automatic movement: the Caliber 80 Si, which gives it a power reserve of up to 80 hours, and whose impeccable accuracy is ensured by a silicon balance-spring – an essential component in luxury watchmaking.
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
New York's Guggenheim Museum showcases its audacious, modern architecture in the very heart of the city. The helical building was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and was opened on 21 October 1959. The structure resembles a tea cup or a white ribbon coiling from the bottom to the top, with a base that is narrower than the summit. Visitors access the museum by climbing to the top of the building, and discover the different works on display as they descend the helical ramp.
